Get to Pangandaran, from there by local transport to cijulang. Rest of the trip you have to go by motor bike, ask your driver to take you to Batu Karas and make sure he'll go over the bamboo bridge otherwise it will be a long trip!
re: check it out
seen the date you posted your topic, you were there in just bad period, no? Just after ramadam... Was there the day before, the last of august and the first september... what a difference... will post some pics of it... This place is rarely crowded but when it is it's overcrowded... Sure if anyone doubts, Elan who gives response on this site is a very strong local surfer and always friendly.. ( even when the "first day longboard" surfers drop in...) Batu Karas, magic when it's on... Ubur ubur biru, gotta love it :)
Check it out
One of Indo's gems. Doesn't produce the grunt you'd normally expect for Indo surf, but Batu Keras is special in its own way. An Indo point without the hassle of similar waves in Byron or Noosa? Yep. Head to Sumatra or G-land for pit action, go to Batu kares to croooze long mellow waves.
One thing. The last couple of times I went there it was difficult to get accomm because local tourists from the cities are loving the place nowadays. It's not just a place you can rock up and find a room so best to book ahead.
accommodation at batu keras
We were 1 week at batu keras and good waves, great for relax and fun surfing with not crowds like other indonesa places. accommodation good but can be always full with many local tourist so better booking first. we stay at hotel on beach in front of wave, name javacape? or javacove? i forget but they have website to booking. very good hotel with different price rooms but have backpacker rooms for $10 night rate for 2 people. enjoy yourself and say hello to local surfer from heidi and sven!
